Commercial chiller in plant room

When you need a chiller instead of air conditioning

When a building outgrows split units — and what drives cost and system selection.

As a building grows, standard air conditioners stop being enough. That's where a chiller comes in — a system that produces chilled water and feeds central cooling across the entire building.

What is a chiller

A chiller cools water that circulates to fan coils or air-handling units in each space. It's the typical solution for hotels, shopping centres, industrial facilities and large office buildings.

When you need a chiller instead of splits

  • Floor area above 500 m² or multiple storeys
  • Hotels, clinics, retail centres, industrial sites
  • Need for stable process or storage temperatures
  • Central management and measurable consumption

What affects cost

Size (cooling capacity in kW), type (air-cooled or water-cooled), pump and pipework quality, and whether it's a new installation or a replacement. Proper engineering prevents oversizing that needlessly inflates cost.

Chiller or VRV?

For many mid-size buildings, a Daikin VRV is more economical and simpler. Chillers excel at very large loads and special requirements. Technical study clarifies what suits you.

How we work

We handle study, Daikin supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance — all from one team. Send us floor area, building use and any drawings for an accurate proposal.
